Hi Ray — great report thanks. Thanks, Tom, Auckland NZ. This makes it feel more normal when I do it a short time later in the race. Hi Ray, great report. It will be great if you can share them. Nice to know!
Another excellent report! Just noticed that if you reverse the second and third numbers in your half time you will get my best half time ! I also love the T-shirt rules! They always look to start in the front and then go out really slow! The marathon in March has a more spectacular route, but probably not as flat, though.
Geat run and love the race report… was wondering what your maximum heart rate is and what your average heart rate as a percentage of max was for the race…. Hi DC. You are now living for so long in Europe. Switch to km and leave the toilsome miles behind! At that point running dynamics started changing a lot with lower cadence, more contact time and more vertical oscillation.
Any reason for this? Just curios about these new parameters. Thank you! I was looking at that as well, as was my coach. I could see about a minute earlier turned into the wind , or a minute later up a slight rise , but it is definitely interesting. We both picked up on it. It was roughly about the point where I seemed to hit a bit of a wall in terms of being able to put any harder. In the 1. I was also very amazed by the fast packet pickup.
Unfortunately I was stupid enough to forget my own yellow chip. I found out while leaving the pickup, but within 5 minutes I was provided with a new chip! Great RR as always! I never knew the HM route was WR fast. The first 3 in the HM broke When I did the Valencia marathon there was a guy running with a twin baby jogger that comfortably ran sub 3. I was at this half marathon too: it was my very first race and I have wonderful memories about it. Talking about races, not far from Paris, in Belgium, they also organise pretty good ones all year long. One is the 20km of Brussels on 31 May in which is a pretty amazing race!
Thanks for all the interesting posts and race reports and.. I found the course on strava finished by some girl counting 21,5km. How would you say is the course? Longer, Shorter, exact? Those times are really impressive, if the course is actually meters longer…. Generally speaking courses are certified, I have no doubt it was exactly half-marathon distance. Looking at GPS data during a race is tricky because people swerve quite a bit and it adds up.
See this: link to dcrainmaker. I finished in and by that time they had taken the medals out of the bags and put them on our necks. Great race report!

This may be a really stupid idea, but there was a discount code, I have a fast finish miler to do that day anyway, and MAN I am just not excited about doing it on my usual routes at my usual time mid-afternoon. Someone tell me it's not.
Thanks runningintheusa. So, three marathons in 36 days for those playing along at home. They sent me this shirt so I'm pretty sure I have to do it now or, I dunno, locusts. I guess.
